Panchang is built to be private by design. The short version: the app collects no data, transmits no data, and has no servers.
What the app does with information
- Location. If you tap "Use my location", the app reads your device position once to find your nearest city and compute local sunrise/sunset times. This happens entirely on your device. Your location is never transmitted anywhere - the app has no backend to send it to. You can also skip location entirely and pick a city from the bundled offline list.
- Birth details (Personal Panchang). If you use the optional Personal Panchang feature, the birth date, time and place you enter are stored only in the app's local storage on your device and used only for on-device calculations. They are never uploaded, shared or backed up by us.
- Settings. Your preferences (chosen city, alert toggles, language, display options) are stored locally on your device.
- Notifications. All alerts are local notifications scheduled on your device. No push-notification service is used; no push tokens exist.
What the app does NOT do
- No accounts, sign-ins or profiles.
- No analytics, crash reporting, advertising or tracking SDKs.
- No data collection or transmission of any kind.
- No third-party data sharing - there is no data to share.
Purchases
The one-time "Personal Panchang" unlock is processed entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We never see or store your payment information. The unlock status is saved locally on your device, and you can restore it through the store's standard "Restore purchases" mechanism.
Data sources
City names and coordinates are from the GeoNames gazetteer (geonames.org, CC-BY 4.0), bundled inside the app and queried offline.
Children
The app does not collect data from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy ever changes (for example, if a future version adds an online feature), the updated policy will be posted at this address before the change ships.
